Extracurricular

Enrichment Opportunities Beyond the Classroom

Extracurricular activities are an essential component of the Q-House’s Integrated Care Model program. Studies have found that participation in certain extracurricular pursuits significantly reduces a student’s risk of dropping out. Q-House students have the opportunity to participate in athletics, intramurals and field trips which explore the unique history, geology and geography of our area. These activities help students develop leadership, teamwork and communication skills that can be applied to other areas of their lives.

Opportunities

Intramurals offer every student the opportunity to play a team sport of their choice and to develop coordination, communication and leadership skills. PBL projects and validate showcase student’s special skills, talents, intellect and creativity.

Expanding Horizons

Unique experiences are an integral component of our program. Our students have hiked and camped in Death Valley National Park, and have visited Bodie, California: the most well-preserved mining town in the American West. Student-cyclists have ridden the AMBR, Death Ride and OATBRAN cycling events.

Leadership and Excellence

Students practice leadership skills through the Student Council which models excellent behavior, academic proficiency and athletic accomplishment. The Q-House encourages its students to initiate community service projects such as canned food drives and volunteer efforts for local organizations. Q-House students are encouraged to pursue excellence in and out of the classroom.
